Upstairs: Panel - Culling Tips

Four goat producers come together to discuss the culling criteria and strategies used on their farms.

Emily Franken grew up on a dairy goat farm, went to school at the University of Guelph where she received her Bachelor in Agriculture, Majoring in Animal Science, after which she returned to the family farm. They milk 700 dairy goats and have been milking goats since 1999. Along with managing the goats Emily works for Howick Mutual Insurance as a farm underwriter. She was a very active member of 4-H growing up and in her spare time continues to volunteer with the organization.


Willem Vendrig is a Huron County dairy goat producer.


Marlene Paibomesai is a Dairy Specialist with the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs. In this role Marlene covers production systems for dairy cattle, sheep and goats. Marlene has a PhD from the University of Guelph and BSc from McMaster University. She will be facilitating this panel.
