On Demand: Overcome Analysis Paralysis: How to take a hay sample and what to do with the results

Hay forms the foundation of most equine diets for at least part of the year. How the hay looks and smells is just the beginning. A forage analysis is the only way to tell how rich the hay is, or if there are nutrients missing that your horse needs. In this on-demand talk, Christine will walk through how to collect a representative hay sample for lab analysis, and what to do with the results when you get them back.

Christine O’Reilly is the Forage and Grazing Specialist with the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food, and Rural Affairs. Her areas of focus include the benefits of forages and grazing within cropping systems, forage production and grazing systems for northern Ontario, and improving the productivity and profitability of forages. She graduated from the University of Guelph with a BBRM degree in 2012. Christine joined the ministry in 2017 and is based out of the Lindsay office.
